Page two, woohoo. Hopefully I didn't screw this up. Think it would be cool to add pages to this thing.
I've been having trouble with drawing lately, specifically drawing for other people's commissions. I don't know why, but it's just been hard to start. It seems like a good way to get over it is starting the comm on paper.
FInally got started on comms, took me way too long to get that going. I also tried compressing my PS2 library of games to a smaller size so i can fit more stuff, gained almost 50 gigabytes of free space! That was nice, helped calm my nerves from all the stress i've been going through.
Adding onto yesterday, I've been playing Speed Racer on PS2, obviously. While I don't have any attachment to the Speed Racer series (aside from the Next Generation cartoon I'd watch on repeat as a kid), the game itself is incredibly fun. I'm sad that no other game has tried to do the Car-Fu like this one (then again, maybe it only works as a Speed Racer thing).
Welcome to May. I think I've finally decided on my next Youtube video & what kind of essay I want to try writing; depictions of water in games. IDK why, it sounds fun lol
I tried animating again after a while, had a really good idea involving one of my OCs Sarah, Tyro's GF. if everything worked, you should see them in the home page :)
Would love to make a guestbook for the site... idunno how to do it though :( same with a zine tbh.
I am in an extremely big Sega Dreamcast mood today. I never grew up with one besides a controller i could never use, so recently I've been emulating it with Flycast, and it's so damn cool. Idunno why, it just really appeals to me: a console from one of my childhood developers, that only lasted barely a few years.. Sure, most of the stuff on there i could play on other systems.. but the vibes man. The vibes just tickle my brain so damn hard.
Had a long think about what my favorite games really are, and after a few minutes I've put together a list. This will probably get updated somewhere down the line.
I'm still hard at work on a review about an anime game I beat, Inuyasha Feudal Combat, and I've been reading the original manga on the side so I know the context of the game. It's been fun writing about a game, the only other times i've tried to write stuff is for a grade in school. That reminds me, I should make a new video soon, I even have an idea for it too: a pseudo-ASMR video where i chill by water in a lot of different games. I say pseudo-ASMR because i hate the genuine thing, it itches my brain in a bad way lol.
I should really log out of social media more. Today's feed on Bluesky made me depressed, with all the vile news about the US & people being upset. This is going to make working on commissions a lot harder...
Had a dream about my dad last night. He took me and my brother to his graduation from college, and after that we went to the house my dad lived at before he died. Me and my dad talked for a while before I woke up. I miss him so much... why was today the day i think about him again?
I've been trying to actually buckle down & play more games lately, so I came up with a system that seems to play nice with my dumb autism brain. I compiled a list of games & put them on a wheel; I'd then spin it, get two games, & those are what I'd be playing to the credits. I've noticed that i have some weird Goldilocks kind of vibe with games. Having so many options for games (knowing at any moment i could play whatever) gives me decision paralysis, & i default to the easy endless stuff I play instead. Limiting myself to one game, however, makes me bored of the game & i drop it. Having 2 games, though, that might be just right. If i get bored with one game, I can just hop on the other. So far it seems to work: I'm about 60% done with the first Jak & Daxter, & i'm having a lot of fun with the first King's Field.
Also, I found this neat forum about the Sega Dreamcast. A little small, but they seem to be on top of anything cool about the system. I would make my own account & talk on there... but to be honest, I don't think i'd have much to say lol
I have beaten Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. Easily a 4 out of 5, I 99%'d the game. It was a nice and easy platformer, definitely a good way to start my journey of getting through my backlog of games. I would've given it a 5 out of 5, but there were some annoyances I've had with the game, mainly Jak's physics when trying to land on stuff, the Snowy Mountaintop, and the lack of unlockable moves besides the Eco powers. Otherwise, very good game.
Sorry for the long wait, just got really busy with stuff that didn't feel worth writing about.. at least until now, since i realize this is my diary and i get to decide what i right about. As you've noticed from the art gallery's recent uploads, i've been into drawing Renamon recently since my brainrot over my own OCs has died down a little. It's just fun to draw, i sometimes like slimmer body shapes. I've also been getting started on some more games, 4 to be specific: Grand Theft Auto 3, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, King's Field still, and Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. Granted, 4 is a major step up from 2, but it seems like it's working out; all of the games are really fun. At some point I'd like to try & find an online job beside commissions, but i don't trust the state of the US to be honest lol
Ooohhh brain is on fire. Ok, I really wanna try making a new Youtube video, something about this hack of DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 I found online. I've also been working on comms & art as usual. Completely unrelated, i hate summer so much lol. At least with winter, you can do stuff to get warm. With summer, you're basically fucked if you wanna get cold, at a certain point it's up to the whims of fate lmao.
So bad news about the DBZ hack video: game wasn't that fun. It wouldn't work that well for a video... Thankfully, I had a backup plan with GTA 3 :).
Feeling a little down today, wanted to draw, but my brain can't come up with anything :( At the very least, things are ok in my life. Getting progress done on comms & this video..
Ugh, forgot to update again... Well, I got that video done, it's doing pretty good in terms of views; a friend actually said it made them laugh out loud, so something tells me I'm doing something right. Next video is a double feature about 2 cool Nintendo 64 games I know, need to find some time to record. Also found some prototypes of stuff like Jet Grind Radio & a cancelled collab between Minecraft & LEGO. Things have been going ok I guess.
Been busy with commissions & life stuff, sorry for lack of updates again. I keep forgetting I can use this thing...
